When I joined the team last year, Humanly announced an acquisition of Qualifi and Sprockets – three products solving different slices of the same recruiting workflow, but built as completely separate surfaces with conflicting data models and no shared design language. In our roadmap to become a true all-in-one recruiting platform, I was tasked with helping us unify each product ecosystem into a single platform.
Humanly: AI screening through conversational chat and voice
Qualifi: Async video interviews for structured candidate evaluation
Sprockets: Behavioral assessments and hiring intelligence for high-volume roles
The challenge is that recruiters use all of these features in their workflow, which requires coordination and results in a fragmented tooling experience. Without a unified candidate, no shared timeline, and no foundation – how do we build cross-product AI features? How might we get recruiting teams to trust Humanly with managing company talent pools and candidate knowledge?
As the sole designer, I'm currently leading the integration effort end-to-end, from discovery through execution.
Discovery: Auditing all three products to map overlapping recruiter workflows and identify where data models conflicted.
Information architecture: Designing the IA for a unified recruiting workflow spanning AI screening, async interviews, and behavioral assessments without collapsing what made each tool distinct.
Universal objects: Defining the core objects (candidate, job, interview, evaluation) as a shared foundation across all three product capabilities.
End-to-end flows: Designing the unified recruiter experience from candidate discovery through evaluation and decision.
Design system: Building foundational components and patterns to standardize the cross-product experience – the first shared design language across all three ecosystems.
Specs and prototypes: Producing detailed documentation used by engineering to scope and build the platform.
